Baked Brown Sugar Glazed Chicken Drumsticks

Ingredients:

  • 8–10 chicken drumsticks

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ½ teaspoon paprika

  • ¼ teaspoon chili powder (optional for a little heat)

For the Glaze:

  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • 2 tablespoons ketchup

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven:
Set oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and lightly grease it (this helps with easy cleanup).

  2. Season the drumsticks:
Pat the chicken dry with paper towels. Toss with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and chili powder until evenly coated. Arrange drumsticks on the baking sheet in a single layer.

  3. Bake:
Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, turning once halfway through, until golden and fully cooked (internal temperature 165°F / 74°C).

  4. Make the glaze:
While the chicken bakes, combine brown sugar, soy sauce, honey, ketchup, garlic, vinegar, and butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
Bring to a simmer and cook for 4–5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the glaze thickens slightly.

  5. Glaze and finish baking:
Brush the glaze generously over the drumsticks, then return them to the oven for another 8–10 minutes, or until caramelized and sticky.
(Optional: broil for 2 minutes for extra crispiness.)

  6. Serve:
Garnish with chopped parsley or green onions, and drizzle with any extra glaze from the pan.
