BBQ Chicken Breasts

  • Author: Stephanie

Description

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts

  • Extra virgin olive oil

  • Kosher salt, to taste

  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

  • ½ cup BBQ sauce (favorite brand or homemade)

Instructions

Grill Method (Recommended)

  1. Preheat grill to high heat (about 450°F). Clean and oil the grates.

  2. Drizzle chicken breasts with olive oil, then season generously with salt and pepper.

  3. Place chicken on the hot grill, cover, and cook 5-6 minutes until the chicken easily releases from the grill.

  4. Flip and cook other side 4-5 minutes.

  5. Baste the chicken breasts with BBQ sauce, flip, cook 2 minutes, then repeat on the other side.

  6. Continue until chicken feels firm and opaque internally, with an internal temp of 160°F (will rise to 165°F while resting).

  7. Remove from grill and rest covered with foil for 5 minutes. Serve with extra BBQ sauce if desired.

Oven Method

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F. Drizzle chicken with oil, season with salt and pepper, and place on a foil-lined baking sheet.

  2. Bake for 15 minutes. Brush BBQ sauce on top and bake 5-8 minutes more until sauce bubbles and edges char slightly, and internal temp reaches 160°F.

  3. Let rest for a few minutes before serving.
