BBQ Glazed Meatballs
Ingredients:
For the Meatballs:
-
1 lb ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
-
½ cup breadcrumbs
-
¼ cup milk
-
1 egg, lightly beaten
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
¼ cup onion, finely chopped
-
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
-
1 tsp smoked paprika
-
½ tsp salt
-
½ tsp black pepper
For the BBQ Glaze:
-
1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
-
2 tbsp honey or brown sugar
-
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
-
1 tsp hot sauce (optional, for heat)
Instructions:
1. Preheat Oven:
Set oven to 400°F (200°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
2. Make the Meatballs:
In a large bowl, mix together breadcrumbs and milk; let sit for 2 minutes to soften.
Add ground meat, egg, garlic, onion, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Mix gently until combined — don’t overmix or they’ll be dense.
Form into 1-inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheet.
3. Bake:
Bake for 15–18 minutes, until browned and cooked through.
4. Make the BBQ Glaze:
While meatballs bake, combine barbecue sauce, honey, apple cider vinegar, and hot sauce in a saucepan.
Simmer over medium heat for 3–4 minutes, stirring until slightly thickened.
5. Glaze and Finish:
Remove meatballs from the oven and toss them in the warm BBQ glaze until fully coated.
You can return them to the oven for 5 more minutes to caramelize the sauce if desired.
6. Serve:
Serve warm as an appetizer with toothpicks or as a main dish over mashed potatoes, rice, or a toasted sub roll.
