Beefy Mac and Cheese Skillet

Servings: 4–6 people
Calories: ~580 per serving
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Custom Time: 5 minutes (resting)
Total Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • ½ tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp chili powder (optional, for flavor)

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni (uncooked)

  • 2 ½ cups beef broth

  • 1 cup milk

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 1 tbsp flour (for thickening)

  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Beef:
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and diced onion. Cook until browned and no longer pink. Drain excess fat.
Stir in garlic, paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute.

  2. Add Pasta and Liquids:
Add uncooked macaroni, beef broth, and milk to the skillet. Stir well and bring to a simmer.

  3. Cook the Pasta:
Reduce heat to medium-low. Cover and cook for about 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.

  4. Make It Creamy:
Stir in butter and sprinkle flour over the mixture. Cook for 1 minute to thicken slightly.

  5. Add the Cheese:
Turn off the heat and mix in shredded cheddar and mozzarella until melted and creamy.

  6. Serve:
Garnish with chopped parsley and an extra sprinkle of cheese if desired. Serve hot straight from the skillet!
