Description

Brown Sugar Soy Sauce Salmon

Ingredients:

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each, skin-on)

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce

  • 3 tbsp brown sugar (light or dark)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil (or sesame oil for nuttier flavor)

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar (or lime juice)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated (optional but delicious)

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (for garnish)

  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Make the Marinade:

    • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, olive oil, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and black pepper until sugar dissolves.

  2. Marinate the Salmon:

    • Place salmon fillets in a shallow dish or zip-top bag.

    • Pour marinade over salmon and refrigerate 20–30 minutes (not longer, or it can get too salty).

  3. Cook the Salmon:

    • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat with a little oil.

    • Remove salmon from marinade (reserve excess marinade) and sear skin-side down first, 3–4 minutes. Flip and cook another 2–3 minutes until just cooked through.

  4. Caramelize the Glaze:

    • Pour reserved marinade into the skillet and let it bubble 1–2 minutes until slightly thickened.

    • Spoon glaze over salmon.

  5. Serve:

    • Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
