Cheesy Baked Tortellini with Meat Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 lb cheese tortellini (fresh or frozen)

  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh basil or parsley, for garnish


Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven:
    Preheat to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  2. Cook the Meat Sauce:
    In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
    Add onion and garlic, sauté 2–3 minutes until softened.
    Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer 5 minutes.

  3. Cook Tortellini:
    Cook tortellini according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and add to the meat sauce, stirring to combine.

  4. Assemble the Bake:
    Transfer tortellini and meat sauce mixture to the prepared baking dish.
    Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and Parmesan evenly over the top.

  5. Bake:
    Bake 20–25 minutes until cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden.

  6. Serve:
    Garnish with fresh basil or parsley. Serve hot with garlic bread or a fresh salad.
