Classic Sweet Potato Casserole

Ingredients

For the Sweet Potatoes

  • 4 cups mashed sweet potatoes (about 4–5 medium sweet potatoes)

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs, beaten

  • ½ cup milk

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon (optional)

For the Topping

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • ⅓ cup all-purpose flour

  • ⅓ cup chopped pecans or walnuts

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • Pinch of salt


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  2. In a large bowl, combine mashed sweet potatoes, sugar, eggs, milk, vanilla, salt, and cinnamon (if using). Mix until smooth.

  3. Spread the sweet potato mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.

  4. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, flour, chopped nuts, melted butter, and a pinch of salt until crumbly.

  5. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the sweet potato layer.

  6. Bake for 30–35 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and the casserole is heated through.

  7. Serve warm.
