🔥 Dark Lantern Shots 🔥

Orange and cinnamon heat with a smoky, glowing top.

🧪 Ingredients (Makes 6–8 shots):

For the Base:

  • 1 oz cinnamon whiskey (like Fireball)

  • 1 oz triple sec or orange liqueur (Cointreau or Grand Marnier)

  • 1 oz dark spiced rum (for depth)

  • 1 oz orange juice (fresh for brightness)

  • 1/2 oz simple syrup (optional, if you want it smoother)

  • Ice (for shaking)

For the Smoky Top:

  • A cinnamon stick (lit for smoke) or

  • Smoked cocktail bitters (1–2 drops per shot) or

  • Smoke bubble (if you have a smoking gun or mixology tool)

Optional Garnishes:

  • Orange peel twist (flamed or fresh)

  • Brown sugar rim

  • Pinch of edible gold dust (for flickering effect)

🔥 Instructions:

  1. Rim the Glass (Optional):

    • Run an orange wedge around the rim of your shot glasses.

    • Dip into a mix of brown sugar and cinnamon for a spiced crust.

    • Chill glasses in freezer.

  2. Shake the Base:

    • In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add:

      • Cinnamon whiskey

      • Triple sec

      • Spiced rum

      • Orange juice

      • (Optional) Simple syrup

    • Shake hard until icy cold and well mixed.

  3. Pour and Garnish:

    • Strain into the chilled shot glasses.

    • Drop in 1–2 dashes of smoked bitters on top, or…

  4. Create the Smoke:

    • Cinnamon stick smoke: Light a cinnamon stick and let it smoke briefly over each shot before serving.

    • Smoking gun/bubble: If you have a smoking gun, add a cloche or smoke bubble for a dramatic reveal.

    • Flamed orange peel (optional): Express the oils from a twist of orange peel over a flame directly above the shot—adds aroma and visual effect.
