Description

Decadent Blackberry Bliss French Toast

Ingredients

  • 8 thick slices of brioche or challah bread

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 cup whole milk (or half-and-half for extra richness)

  • ¼ cup heavy cream

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon

  • Pinch of salt

  • 2 tbsp butter, for cooking

  • 1 ½ cups fresh blackberries (or thawed frozen)

  • ¼ cup maple syrup (plus more for serving)

  • ¼ cup cream cheese, softened

  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar, for drizzling

  • Fresh mint leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the custard: In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.

  2. Mix the blackberry cream: In a small bowl, combine blackberries, cream cheese, and 1–2 tbsp maple syrup. Gently mash some of the berries to create a slightly chunky mixture.

  3. Soak the bread: Dip each slice of bread into the custard, coating both sides, letting excess drip off.

  4. Cook the French toast: Heat butter in a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Cook slices 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.

  5. Assemble: Spread a layer of the blackberry cream mixture over the French toast. Stack slices if desired and drizzle with additional maple syrup.

  6. Garnish: Sprinkle with powdered sugar and top with fresh blackberries and mint leaves.
