Description
Decadent Blackberry Bliss French Toast
Ingredients
-
8 thick slices of brioche or challah bread
-
4 large eggs
-
1 cup whole milk (or half-and-half for extra richness)
-
¼ cup heavy cream
-
2 tbsp granulated sugar
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
½ tsp ground cinnamon
-
Pinch of salt
-
2 tbsp butter, for cooking
-
1 ½ cups fresh blackberries (or thawed frozen)
-
¼ cup maple syrup (plus more for serving)
-
¼ cup cream cheese, softened
-
2 tbsp powdered sugar, for drizzling
-
Fresh mint leaves, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
-
Prepare the custard: In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
-
Mix the blackberry cream: In a small bowl, combine blackberries, cream cheese, and 1–2 tbsp maple syrup. Gently mash some of the berries to create a slightly chunky mixture.
-
Soak the bread: Dip each slice of bread into the custard, coating both sides, letting excess drip off.
-
Cook the French toast: Heat butter in a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Cook slices 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
-
Assemble: Spread a layer of the blackberry cream mixture over the French toast. Stack slices if desired and drizzle with additional maple syrup.
-
Garnish: Sprinkle with powdered sugar and top with fresh blackberries and mint leaves.
