  • Author: Stephanie

Description

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) sausage (Bratwurst or Italian style)

  • 1 lb (450g) broccoli florets

  • 3 tablespoons butter or oil, divided

  • 5 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • Juice of 1/2 lemon plus lemon slices for garnish

  • Salt and fresh cracked pepper to taste

  • 1/4 cup vegetable or beef stock

  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (optional)

  • 1/2 cup fresh chopped parsley

  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves

Instructions

  1. Blanch broccoli in boiling water for 3 minutes until crisp-tender, then transfer to ice bath and drain.

  2. In a skillet, lay sausages with 1/2 cup water. Cook covered on medium heat for 10 minutes, turning regularly.

  3. When water evaporates, add 2 tablespoons butter, half the garlic, and red chili flakes if using. Cook sausages until browned in garlic butter sauce. Remove and set aside.

  4. In the same skillet, melt remaining butter over low heat. Add parsley, thyme, remaining garlic, Italian seasoning, blanched broccoli, and cook 4-5 minutes, stirring regularly.

  5. Deglaze with lemon juice, stock, and hot sauce if using. Reduce sauce for a few minutes.

  6. Return sausages to the skillet, reheat quickly, and spoon sauce over. Adjust seasoning and serve garnished with fresh herbs and lemon slices.

This recipe is low-carb, quick, and full of flavor, making it perfect for a nourishing weeknight meal.
