Grilled Steak with Tomato and Onion Salad and French Fries

Ingredients

For the Steak:

  • 2 ribeye or sirloin steaks (about 1 inch thick)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper

  • 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)

For the Tomato and Onion Salad:

  • 2 large ripe tomatoes, sliced or chopped

  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • Fresh basil or parsley, chopped

For the French Fries:

  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into fries

  • 2–3 tbsp vegetable oil

  • Salt, to taste

  • Optional: paprika or garlic powder for seasoning

Instructions

  1. Prepare the French Fries
    Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
Toss potato sticks with oil, salt, and optional seasonings. Spread on a baking sheet in a single layer.
Bake 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.

  2. Make the Tomato and Onion Salad
In a bowl, combine tomatoes and red onion. Drizzle with olive oil and vinegar. Season with salt, pepper, and herbs. Toss gently and set aside.

  3. Prepare the Steak
Pat steaks dry, rub with olive oil, and season generously with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Preheat a grill or cast-iron skillet over high heat.

  4. Grill the Steak

    • Cook 4–5 minutes per side for medium-rare (adjust for thickness and desired doneness).

    • Remove steaks from heat and let rest 5–10 minutes before slicing.

  5. Serve
Plate the steak with a side of tomato and onion salad and golden French fries. Drizzle extra salad dressing over the top if desired.
