Homemade Churros with Salted Chocolate Dipping Sauce
Ingredients (serves 4–6):
For the churros:

1 cup water

2 ½ tbsp granulated sugar

½ tsp salt

2 tbsp vegetable oil

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

Oil, for frying

½ cup sugar mixed with 1 tsp cinnamon, for coating
For the salted chocolate sauce:

½ cup heavy cream
-
4 oz dark or semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
-
1 tbsp butter
-
¼ tsp sea salt
Instructions:

Prepare churro dough:

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, sugar, salt, and 2 tbsp vegetable oil. Bring to a boil.

Remove from heat and stir in flour until a smooth dough forms. Let it cool slightly.

Beat in eggs one at a time until fully incorporated.

Heat oil for frying:

In a deep pan, heat 2–3 inches of oil to 350°F (175°C).

Pipe and fry churros:

Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe 4–6 inch strips into the hot oil.

Fry until golden brown, about 2–3 minutes per side. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Coat churros:

Roll warm churros in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until evenly coated.

Prepare chocolate sauce:

In a small saucepan, heat cream until just simmering. Remove from heat and stir in chopped chocolate, butter, and sea salt until smooth and glossy.

Serve:

Serve churros warm with salted chocolate sauce for dipping.

Notes:

For easier cleanup, you can bake churros in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for 20 minutes, brushing with oil halfway.

Churros are best served fresh, but leftover churros can be reheated in the oven to regain crispiness.
