  • Author: Stephanie

Description

Onion and Cumin Beef Stir-Fry

Ingredients
• 1 lb beef (sirloin or flank steak), thinly sliced against the grain
• 2 tbsp vegetable oil
• 1 large onion, thinly sliced
• 3 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 tsp ground cumin
• 1 tsp ground coriander (optional)
• 1 tbsp soy sauce
• 1 tbsp oyster sauce (or hoisin sauce)
• 1/2 tsp chili flakes (optional for heat)
• Salt + black pepper to taste
• Chopped green onions or cilantro for garnish
• Cooked rice or noodles for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add beef and sear 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.

  2. Add remaining oil and sauté onions until soft and slightly caramelized. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.

  3. Sprinkle in cumin (and coriander if using), stirring until fragrant.

  4. Return beef to the skillet. Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, chili flakes, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Toss to coat everything evenly.

  5. Cook another 1–2 minutes until beef is heated through and the flavors meld.

  6. Serve over rice or noodles, garnished with green onions or cilantro.
