Description

🥩 Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes

Ingredients (Makes 4–6 servings)

  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground sirloin)

  • 1 green bell pepper, finely diced

  • 1 medium onion, finely diced

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 cup beef broth

  • 2 tbsp ketchup

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (mixed with 2 tbsp cold water)

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning (optional)

  • 6 hamburger buns (toasted)

  • 6 slices provolone cheese (or mozzarella/cheese of choice)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef:

    • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess grease.

  2. Sauté Veggies:

    • Add olive oil, onions, bell peppers, and garlic. Cook until softened, about 4–5 minutes.

  3. Make the Sauce:

    • Stir in Worcestershire, ketchup, beef broth, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.

    • Simmer for 3–4 minutes.

  4. Thicken:

    • Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook until the mixture thickens into a saucy, sloppy joe consistency.

  5. Assemble:

    • Spoon beef mixture onto toasted buns.

    • Top each with a slice of provolone cheese (let it melt from the heat of the beef).

  6. Serve Hot:

    • Enjoy these cheesy, savory sloppy joes with fries, chips, or a side salad.
