Instructions
Prepare French Fries:
-
Soak cut potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes, then drain and pat dry.
-
Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F. Fry potatoes in batches for about 4-5 minutes until soft but not browned. Drain and let cool.
-
Increase oil temperature to 375°F, then fry potatoes again in batches for 2-3 minutes until crispy and golden. Drain on paper towels and season with salt.
Prepare French Onions:
-
Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
-
Add sliced onions and sugar, cook slowly, stirring frequently, for about 15-20 minutes until onions are soft and caramelized.
-
Season with salt and deglaze the pan with beef broth, scraping up any browned bits. Cook until the liquid reduces.
Cook Ribeye Steaks:
-
Let the ribeye steaks come to room temperature for 20-30 minutes.
-
Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.
-
Heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat and add oil.
-
Sear steaks for 3-4 minutes on each side to develop a crust.
-
Add butter, garlic, and herbs to the pan; baste steaks by spooning melted butter on top while cooking for another 1-2 minutes.
-
Remove steaks and rest under foil for 5-10 minutes.
Serve:
-
Plate ribeye steaks topped with caramelized French onions.
-
Serve crispy French fries on the side for a complete meal.
This classic steakhouse meal combines juicy, perfectly seared ribeye with rich caramelized onions and crispy fries, serving 2-4 people.
