Ingredients

1 pound asparagus, washed and trimmed

2 tablespoons olive oil

3–4 cloves garlic, minced

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

5–6 slices bacon, cooked until crisp and crumbled

1 cup shredded cheese (Gruyere, Parmesan, Monterey Jack, or Cheddar all work well)
Instructions

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

Arrange trimmed asparagus in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with foil or parchment.

Drizzle asparagus with olive oil, sprinkle on the minced garlic, and season with salt and pepper. Toss to coat evenly.

Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the asparagus is crisp-tender.

While asparagus roasts, cook bacon in a skillet until crisp. Drain on paper towels and crumble.

Remove asparagus from oven, sprinkle evenly with cheese, and return to oven for 2–3 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.

Sprinkle the crumbled bacon over the asparagus and serve immediately while hot and melty.
