Description

🍽️🥩 Salisbury Steak Meatballs

Ingredients:

For the Meatballs:

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs

  • 1 egg

  • 2 tbsp milk

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp smoked paprika

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

  • 2 tbsp olive oil (for browning)

For the Gravy:

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp flour

  • 2 cups beef broth

  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tbsp ketchup

  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Make the meatballs: In a bowl, combine beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix gently and shape into 1-inch meatballs.

  2. Brown meatballs: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown meatballs on all sides (they don’t need to be fully cooked yet). Remove and set aside.

  3. Make the gravy: In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté onions until caramelized (about 8 minutes). Add garlic and cook 1 minute. Stir in flour and cook 1 minute more.

  4. Add liquids: Slowly whisk in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, and mustard. Simmer until thickened, about 5 minutes.

  5. Simmer meatballs: Return meatballs to skillet, cover, and simmer in gravy for 15 minutes, until cooked through.

  6. Serve: Spoon meatballs and gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles. Garnish with parsley.
