Description

Shrimp and Crab Boil

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs large shrimp, shell-on

  • 2 lbs crab legs or blue crabs

  • 1 lb andouille sausage, sliced into 1-inch pieces

  • 1 ½ lbs baby red potatoes

  • 4 ears of corn, cut into halves or thirds

  • 1 lemon, halved

  • 1 whole garlic bulb, halved crosswise

  • 1 large onion, quartered

  • ½ cup Old Bay seasoning (or your favorite seafood boil mix)

  • 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning

  • 2–3 bay leaves

  • 1 tbsp salt (adjust to taste)

  • ½ stick (¼ cup) butter, melted

  • Fresh parsley and lemon wedges for garnish

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Boil:

Fill a large stockpot about ¾ full with water.
Add Old Bay, Cajun seasoning, salt, bay leaves, onion, garlic, and lemon halves.
Bring to a rolling boil.

2. Cook the Potatoes:

Add the potatoes to the pot and cook for 10–12 minutes, until almost tender.

3. Add the Sausage and Corn:

Add andouille sausage and corn.
Cook for another 5–7 minutes.

4. Add the Crab:

Add crab legs or blue crabs and simmer for 5 minutes, allowing them to soak up the spices.

5. Add the Shrimp:

Finally, add shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes, or until they turn pink and opaque.
Be careful not to overcook them.

6. Drain and Serve:

Turn off the heat and let everything sit for 5 minutes in the seasoned broth to absorb flavor.
Drain the pot and transfer everything to a large serving platter or a newspaper-covered table for that authentic boil experience.

7. Add Butter and Garnish:

Drizzle melted butter over the seafood and sprinkle with extra Cajun seasoning and fresh parsley.
Serve with lemon wedges and extra butter for dipping.
