Spicy Cajun Salmon and Shrimp Delight

Ingredients

Seafood

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 4 oz each), skin removed

  • 1 pound jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails optional)

  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning (divided)

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Cajun Cream Sauce

  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

  • 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1 cup chicken broth

  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese (or cheddar)

  • 2 cups fresh baby spinach

  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season the seafood: Sprinkle salmon with half of the Cajun seasoning. Season shrimp with the remaining Cajun seasoning.

  2. Cook salmon: In a large skillet, heat butter and oil over medium heat. Cook salmon fillets about 3-4 minutes per side, until cooked through. Remove from pan, keep warm.

  3. Cook shrimp: In the same skillet, add shrimp and cook about 2-3 minutes per side until opaque. Remove and set aside.

  4. Make cream sauce: In the same skillet, melt butter. Whisk in flour, Cajun seasoning, and smoked paprika; cook 1 minute. Gradually whisk in heavy cream and chicken broth, and simmer until thickened.

  5. Add cheese and spinach: Stir in shredded cheese until melted, then add spinach and cook until wilted.

  6. Combine and finish: Return salmon and shrimp to the skillet, spoon sauce over seafood, warming it through.

  7. Serve: Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve immediately, with sides like mashed potatoes or rice for a complete meal.

This dish offers a flavorful, creamy Cajun experience with fresh seafood in under 40 minutes.
