🕸️ Wailing Widow Shots 🕸️
Dark blackberry laced with sweet cream and finished with an eerie fog—hauntingly delicious and visually ghostly!
🧪 Ingredients (Makes 6–8 shots):
Blackberry Base:
-
1/4 cup blackberry liqueur (like crème de mûre or Chambord)
-
1 oz vanilla vodka (or plain vodka + a splash of vanilla extract)
-
1 tbsp blackberry syrup (or jam thinned with warm water)
-
1 tsp lemon juice (to balance sweetness)
-
Optional: 1–2 drops black food coloring for deeper hue
Cream Float:
-
1/4 cup heavy cream (cold)
-
1 tsp powdered sugar
-
Optional: 1/8 tsp edible shimmer or pearl dust
Fog Effect (Optional):
-
Small food-safe dry ice chips (1 per shot, optional and caution required)
OR -
Serve in a fog-emitting tray with dry ice under the shot glasses for effect
👻 Instructions:
-
Chill the Glasses:
-
Place shot glasses in the freezer to chill for a few minutes. This enhances the fog effect and keeps the layers defined.
-
-
Prepare the Blackberry Layer:
-
In a shaker with ice, mix blackberry liqueur, vanilla vodka, syrup, lemon juice, and optional food coloring.
-
Shake vigorously until well chilled.
-
Strain into chilled shot glasses, filling each halfway.
-
-
Make the Cream Layer:
-
In a small bowl or shaker, combine cold heavy cream and powdered sugar. Whisk or shake until slightly thickened but still pourable.
-
Stir in edible shimmer if using.
-
-
Float the Cream:
-
Using the back of a spoon, slowly pour the cream over the blackberry base so it floats on top.
-
-
Create the Fog (Optional):
-
Carefully add a tiny chip of food-safe dry ice to each glass right before serving (do not drink until it has fully dissipated)
OR place the shots on a serving tray filled with dry ice and hot water beneath for safe ambient fog.
-
🕷️ Tips for Extra Spook:
-
Garnish with a blackberry skewered on a mini bone pick or black cocktail sword.
-
Drizzle a small “bloody” line of blackberry syrup down the inside of each glass.
