Description

🥩 French Pepper Steak

Ingredients (4 servings):

  • 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or strip steak, sliced thin against the grain

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1–2 tsp crushed black pepper (adjust to taste)

  • ½ cup beef broth

  • ½ cup heavy cream

  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • Salt, to taste

  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prep steak: Season steak slices with salt and crushed black pepper.

  2. Sear beef: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high. Sear steak in batches until browned but not fully cooked. Remove and set aside.

  3. Cook aromatics: Add butter to the skillet, sauté onions until soft, then add garlic and crushed pepper; cook 1 minute until fragrant.

  4. Make sauce: Deglaze skillet with beef broth, scraping up browned bits. Stir in Dijon, Worcestershire, and cream. Simmer 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.

  5. Finish steak: Return beef to skillet, toss in sauce, and cook 2–3 more minutes until steak reaches desired doneness.

  6. Serve: Plate steak with creamy pepper sauce over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles. Garnish with parsley.
